Overview
Buffalo Grove residents have one pick-up per week for recyclables.

Recyclable Materials
  • Paper materials: Includes newspapers, magazines, phone books, catalogs, chipboard cartons, business mail, office paper, Kraft paper, corrugated cardboard, junk mail, envelopes, paper egg cartons, milk, juice and other beverage cartons, paper tubes, wrapping paper, and cereal / food boxes. Place shredded paper into paper bags.
  • Plastic materials: Household plastic containers noted 1-5. Caps, rings, lids, and labels may remain on container. Includes laundry baskets, buckets, storage tubs, kittly litter tubs, plant pots, water and soda bottles, milk, detergent, shampoo containers, lids, plastic films like grocery bags, yogut, butter, and cosmetic containers.
  • Metal and glass materials: Includes aluminum, tin, steel / zinc cans, aerosol cans, glass containers, clean aluminum foil.
  • Old vehicles: 
  • Residents may donate their old vehicles to Wheels For Wishes, a car donation program benefiting Make-A-Wish Illinois. Wheels for Wishes offers a free and easy way to recycle or donate unwanted cars, trucks, motorcycles, SUVs, RVs, or even boats, by turning them into a wish for a local child. They pick-up or tow away cars free of charge, whether they run or not. Vehicles are either recycled or auctioned off and 100% of the net proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish Illinois. The person who donates may also receive the maximum possible tax deduction for your charity vehicle donation.  For more information, visit http://illinois.wheelsforwishes.org/
  • Residents may also choose to help disabled veterans by donating a car, truck, boat, RV, ATV, or motorcycle, whether the vehicle runs or not. Your vehicle donation helps to support veterans' programs that provide strength and encouragement to the disabled veterans who have served our country.
