Citizen Police Academy

The Buffalo Grove Police Department began a Citizen Police Academy in 1997. 

Our certified police instructors teach the academy students about all aspects of police work including the use of RADAR and LIDAR units in speed enforcement, traffic crash investigation, crime scene processing, crimes against property and person(s), emergency dispatch center tour, firearms safety, and much more. 

The Citizen Police Academy is scheduled in the spring. The program is an eight week course, which meets one evening each week. 

This program is reserved for those 21 and over. If interested, please fill out a Citizen Police Academy Registration Form and forward it to the Community Relations Unit.

Junior Police Academy

The academy is designed for students who are 12 to 15 years of age and either live and or go to school in Buffalo Grove. 

This program covers several aspects of Law Enforcement and involves hands on training conducted by Certified Police Instructors. 

Our Junior Police Academy is a one week long program that is held in June of each year. To apply, please fill out a Junior Police Academy Registration Form and forward to the Crime Prevention Unit.
