The Buffalo Grove Commission for Residents with Disabilities and the Vernon Area Public Library are releasing a series of three bookmarks aimed at their younger patrons. It is hoped the bookmarks will make students realize that the people they know who have a disability have the same needs and hopes that they have themselves.
In addition to the message on the front of the bookmark, the back contains information on recommended reading for those interested in learning more about disabilities.
The program was funded jointly by the commission, Vernon Library, and Culver's of Buffalo Grove.
This marks the latest effort of the year long campaign by the commission to heighten awareness among village residents of the problems and challenges that confront those with a disability.
