Lake Cook Corridor Market Study and Plan

Project Overview



​The Lake Cook Market Study and Plan is underway and will develop a vision for a key asset in the Village, the Lake Cook Road Corridor.

The Lake Cook Corridor encompasses over 472 acres of land and includes properties from Arlington Heights Road to just west of Weiland Road and from Old Checker Road to just south of Lake Cook Road. It represents a gateway into the Village of Buffalo Grove, as the Corridor connects the Village to both local roads and the larger regional network of expressways, highways and county or state routes. With more than 40,000 vehicles traveling on it per day, Lake Cook Road is one of the most utilized roads in the region.

​The study area is characterized by a mix of land uses over one million square feet of commercial space, residential dwellings, the village campus, and a municipal golf course. Its high visibility, strong trade area demographics, and regional accessibility present opportunities for economic development/redevelopment.

​The plan’s objective is to explore how the Village can best reposition the Lake-Cook Corridor so that it can optimize its growth potential. The Lake Cook Road Corridor study is multi-disciplinary in its approach and will include market, real estate, environmental, land use, transportation, and community engagement elements. The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2017.

​Community outreach is a key part of the project. The public will be encouraged to attend and participate in community outreach events and activities that will occur throughout the course of the project.

PROJECT UPDATE  - March 15, 2017

​​The Market Study and Existing Conditions Presentation is now available.

At the March 6th Committee of the Whole (COW), the Lake Cook Corridor consultant team presented the DRAFT Market Study and Existing Conditions Report. The presentation is available for viewing. The consultant team is currently revising and incorporating the Board’s comments into the Report. Once these revisions are completed, the final Market Study and Existing Conditions Report will be posted.
