BUFFALO GROVE POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCEPTING OLD OR UNUSED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS

The Buffalo Grove Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) have once again partnered to provide a safe place to drop off unused or expired drug prescriptions.

A collection event will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Buffalo Grove Police Department, 46 Raupp Boulevard in Buffalo Grove. A green mailbox in the station’s lobby is the place where residents can conveniently and responsibly deposit prescriptions that are no longer needed.

The Drug Take Back initiative, which began in 2010, includes departments from all 50 states. In 2016, 447 tons of old medications were collected. Illinois ranked among the top five states for the amount collected, in addition to Texas, California, Wisconsin and Massachusetts.

The green mailbox will remain in the Buffalo Grove Police Department indefinitely if residents should residents miss the collection event on Saturday.
