Buffalo Grove and Wheeling Fire Departments, along with the Lake County Sheriff’s office worked together to locate the accident victims.
On July 9, 2017 at 12:55 a.m., the Buffalo Grove and Wheeling Fire Departments were dispatched after a report of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident that occurred in the Lake County Forest Preserve. The report stated a female passenger on an ATV was at the northeast corner of the forest preserve, and that she felt she was going to pass out.
Both fire departments, along with the members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, began searching for the individual, and located two patients on the path behind 301 N. Riverwalk Drive in Buffalo Grove, south of the Lake Cook path bridge. The male driver of the ATV was in traumatic cardiac arrest when he was discovered, and the female passenger had a possible head injury.
A Wheeling ambulance transported the male patient to Condell Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The female patient was also transported to Condell Hospital, but by a Buffalo Grove ambulance. She had minor injuries.
No other information is available at this time, pending notification of family members of the deceased.
