BUFFALO GROVE POLICE RELEASE HOLIDAY TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT RESULTS

The Buffalo Grove Police Department, alongside the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Illinois State Police and law enforcement agencies across the state, completed a successful Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign that coincided with the December holidays.

“It should come as no surprise to any driver that drunk driving is illegal and punishable by arrest and significant fines,” said Sergeant Michelle Kondrat. “Hopefully, individuals and offenders realize driving while intoxicated has potentially fatal consequences, and they will choose not to put themselves or others at risk by driving impaired.”

During the crackdown, Buffalo Grove Police issued the following:
•30 seat belt citations
•19 use of mobile device citations
•1 suspended/revoked licenses
•5 uninsured motorists
•20 speeding citations
•1 drug arrests

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 37,461 people died in 2016 motor vehicle traffic crashes, and 28-percent (10,497) died in crashes in which at least one driver had a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) at or above the 0.08 limit.

The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement effort was made possible with federal highway safety funds administered by IDOT.
