The Lake County Clerk’s office has assigned new Election Day voting sites for voters in the Buffalo Grove area who live in Vernon Township precincts 276, 279, 280, 281, and 285. Election Day is Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

Aptakisic Junior High School will no longer serve as an Election Day voting site starting with the November 2018 election. Significant efforts were made by the Lake County Clerk's office to identify a new and convenient voting site for the residents in Vernon Township precincts 276, 279, 280, 281, and 285, but a convenient location of voters in all of the precincts was not identified.

Illinois statutes mandate that voting sites be as centrally located as possible within the precincts being served, comply with Americans with Disabilities Act regulations, and have enough space for voters, voting equipment, and parking. Since a building that met all of these requirements was not located, voters have been reassigned to other established voting sites that are closer to their residences.

On Election Day, voters in precincts 279 and 280 will vote at the Willow Grove School, 777 Checker Drive in Buffalo Grove, and voters in precincts 276, 281 and 285 will vote at the Chevy Chase Country Club, 1000 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Wheeling.

The Lake County Clerk’s office has already mailed a new Voter Certificate of Registration Card listing the new voting sites to registered voters affected by these reassignments. Another reminder letter will be mailed to the residents closer to the November election describing the new voting site locations by address and a map will also be provided.

Voters can locate their precinct number by reviewing the attached map, or by visiting LakeVoterPower.info. This website also provides a sample ballot when available, information on how to complete a vote by mail application, and where to find early and Election Day voting site information.

Early voting for registered voters starts two weeks before Election Day on October 23, 2018, and voters can use any site regardless of where they live. Or, voters can vote by mail and have a ballot sent directly to the residence. Visit LakeCountyClerk.info and click on the November 2018 election icon for additional details.
