Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 7:00 PM - Twelfth Annual Spring Concert! Stevenson High School, Lincolnshire, IL. "Isn't it Romantic II"
One of the Band's most popular concerts was Isn't It Romantic in 2006. Well, the Band is following that concert up again with the second edition of that performance with all new selections!
As always a mix of "classical" and Popular selections, some of the featured numbers include Holst's "Mars" from "The Planets" (if you loved Darth Vader's theme from Star Wars you will love this one!), the United States premiere of the band version of the Tchaikovsky 5th Symphony last movement, and music from the opera Carmen. Featured will be a rare Concerto for 2 French Horns with soloists Jesse Clevenger and Jamie Leff. Porgy and Bess won the 2012 Tony for Broadway revivals and the movie Les Miserables is on everyone's lips these days - music from BOTH these musicals will be on the program. The Buffalo Grove Jazz Band will perform music of Benny Goodman, Stan Kenton, and Buddy Rich. Not to be missed! $12 at the door, $10 in advance, $8 for students and seniors at all times. Sunday, June 23rd at 2:00 PM - Eighth Annual Ensemble Concert. Vernon Area Library, Lincolnshire, IL.
In what has become another BGSB tradition members of the Band will come together in smaller chamber ensembles - duos, trios, quartets, quintets, and more in all sorts of combinations of instruments. Come spend a lovely spring afternoon to hear the various Band "close up and personal" in a uniquely intimate setting. FREE.
Thursday, July 4th at 7:00 PM - Independence Day Concert at the Buffalo Grove Rotary Village Green
Every year since the Band was started in 2001 the Band has performed for thousands at the Rotary Village Green before the Annual Fireworks Display. Bring a picnic basket and lawn chairs and join us for one of the Band's and the Village's favorite events of the year! FREE!!
Friday, July 12th at 7:00PM – Buffalo Grove Jazz band Concert, opening the Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival at the Rotary Village Green!
Swing to the sounds of the Buffalo Grove Jazz Band, Leader and Clarinetist Howard Green and vocalist Leah Novak as they inaugurate the festivities of the Art Festival for the 3rd consecutive year. Bring lawn chairs and a picnic basket and enjoy great Jazz and Big Band Classics under the stars! Free!!
