On Monday February 1, 2021 at approximately 5:40 p.m., Buffalo Grove Police Officers responded to the AT&T store at 55 N. McHenry Road in Buffalo Grove for a reported armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers located an employee of the store restrained with plastic ties in the restroom. The employee was uninjured and was the only victim of the incident. The store’s video surveillance system provided officers with a detailed description of the offender, armed with what appeared to be a handgun, and leaving with an estimated $57,000 worth of merchandise.

Through diligent investigative efforts, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) was able to locate the suspect near the 400 block of 103rd Street in Chicago.

Marcus Scott, 37, of Chicago was found to be in possession of a handgun and arrested by CPD. CPD charged Scott with Unlawful Use of Weapon by a Felon – a class 3 felony. Continued investigation led to the recovery of all merchandise stolen from the AT&T store.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved a Felony Warrant for Armed Robbery and Aggravated Unlawful Restraint, with a $500,000 D Bond. The Buffalo Grove Police Department plans to serve the warrant upon Scott’s release from custody on the CPD charges.

The efforts of the Buffalo Grove Police Department, combined with the Chicago Police Department, should be commended for the swift resolution to this incident.
