Duo Image VBG 11-22-21The Village is proud to announce two promotions that will continue the development of strong leadership within the organization and maintain the highest quality service delivery to the Buffalo Grove community.

Mike Skibbe, Director of the Public Works Department, will now serve in a dual role, adding Deputy Village Manager responsibilities to his leadership duties. In this new role for Mr. Skibbe, he will oversee all public works and utility functions, police services and golf operations, as well as administrative functions in the Office of the Village Manager. Over his 22-year career with the Village, he has served in engineering, administrative and operations roles, and shown strong leadership on a range of projects, including the Village’s $175 million Infrastructure Modernization Program and Emerald Ash Borer Reforestation Program. Mr. Skibbe holds Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Engineering degrees.

Former Deputy Director of Community Development Nicole Woods will now serve as the Director of Community Development. Ms. Woods joined the Village in 2015 and has served in various city planning and administrative roles. She will now oversee all planning, zoning, building permitting, inspections, environmental health and economic development functions. Her degrees include a Master in City and Regional Planning and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Urban Studies.

These leadership changes enable Chris Stilling, who had been serving in the dual role of Community Development Director and Deputy Village Manager, to now serve as the full-time Deputy Village Manager, a position that has been vacant since August of 2021.

“We are excited to see these young professionals continue to advance in their careers and in our organization,” said Village Manager Dane Bragg in announcing the promotions. “We are excited to see how each of their roles will contribute to the progress yet to come on major Village initiatives including the Town Center redevelopment, enhanced communications and infrastructure management.”

The promotions take effect today, Monday, November 22.
