Public Safety Event Planned for September 17 in Buffalo Grove
The Village is hosting a Public Safety Event on Saturday, September 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Fire Station 26, located at 1051 Highland Grove Drive. The free event is open to the public and features family-friendly fire and police department vehicles, activities and demonstrations.
“We are so excited to bring back our annual open house but with a twist this year,” said Fire Chief Mike Baker. “Our friends in the police department are joining us. Attendees can see and interact with more of the Village’s first responders and learn how we help keep the community safe day in and day out.”
The Fire Department will showcase several apparatuses (subject to availability) including “MobileComm,” the tower truck, ambulances and the Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV). Crews will conduct a vehicle extrication drill at noon followed by a live fire/sprinkler demonstration at 1:00 p.m. The Fire Department will also host a kids combat challenge, and children can take photographs with firefighters.
The Police Department will have a squad car on site as well as a prize wheel. McGruff will also be making an appearance.
In addition to the fire and police units, several comfort dogs will be on site thanks to the Lutheran Charity Church. Nicor, ComEd and Metra will also be in attendance to share public safety information.
