Street Lights
Buffalo Grove partners with a service provider to maintain and inspect Village owned street lights. The current contractor is Aldridge Electric. All issues and outage reports route through Public Works.
The Police Department helps by reporting outages spotted overnight. Please report any observed outages as soon as you see them so that we may fix the problem. Aldridge Electric fixes most outages within a week.
You have questions, we have answers!
You may use the BG Reporting portal; you can call Public Works at 847-459-2545, M - F from 7 am - 3:30 pm; or you can click the action button listed above.
Please provide an address or the pole's ID number when reporting an outage. Pole IDs are a 4-digit number, located 48" off the ground, or a numbered sticker on the light fixture itself. This allows crews to identify the pole in need of repair.
- In 2017, the Village began replacing all residential street lights with LED fixtures.
- LED fixtures save energy, and also need less maintenance over the life of the fixture.
As a proactive measure, Buffalo Grove operates on a 3-year cycle for non-LED lamp replacements. Each year, Buffalo Grove changes one third of the lamps at end of life. Light pole condition is also inspected during this cycle, for both LED and non-LED lights.
