Before, during and after disasters, CERT volunteer teams perform basic response activities, including checking in on neighbors, distributing information to the public, supporting emergency operations centers and helping to manage traffic and crowds. Local CERT programs train and organize teams of volunteers to assist their families, neighbors, co-workers and other community members in the event of an emergency or disaster.

No. All Buffalo Grove CERT volunteers receive a basic training program outlining topic areas such as CPR and basic first aid, light search and rescue, disaster preparedness and other topics. Classes are one night a week for six to eight weeks, and are held in the fall and spring.
Volunteers take part in a six to eight week basic training program, with classes on nights and weekends. We are happy to work with your schedule and can offer the courses in a hybrid format.
After passing a practical final, BG CERT volunteers are asked to remain on-call as needed for special events or disaster situations. Periodical trainings and exercises take place on an ongoing basis.
