The untapped expertise of the members of our community can greatly enhance the department’s ability to provide service to the public. By using volunteers, sworn officers and civilian employees can be deployed to provide more efficient and effective service elsewhere.
The Buffalo Grove Police Department has instituted a Volunteer Program utilizing civilian personnel from within the Village and other local communities.

- Clear review of criminal history/finger print check
- Attended a previous session of Buffalo Grove’s CPA
- Complete forms (Volunteer Program Information Form,Emergency Medical Form,Hold Harmless Agreement, and Participant Liability Form)
Volunteer meetings are held monthly, generally the third Wednesday evening of the month. Volunteer duties include, but are not limited to; enforcing handicap parking violations, court transmittals, transporting police vehicles and other various clerical activities.
In addition to these, there are numerous re-occurring events in which the members of the Buffalo Grove Police Department’s Citizen Volunteers participate in that are mostly community relations oriented.
