Moving BG Forward year-end update

In 2023, the Village launched its "Moving BG Forward" initiatives to envision the future of Buffalo Grove through a new 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, Comprehensive Plan, and community branding initiative. Here's an update on the progress of each of those initiatives as we head into 2024: 
2024-2028 Strategic Plan adopted

Strategic planning is a comprehensive and systematic management tool designed to help organizations assess the current environment, anticipate and respond appropriately to changes in the environment, envision the future, increase effectiveness, develop commitment to the organization's mission and achieve consensus on strategies and objectives for achieving that mission.

On December 4, the Village Board adopted the 2024-2028 Strategic Plan with a vision of Buffalo Grove being:

  • a safe, beautiful and vibrant community;
  • a community with outstanding public schools, great neighborhoods, ample leisure experiences and a strong and diverse local economy; and
  • an inclusive and welcoming community.

Comprehensive Plan work continuesThe Comprehensive Plan will examine present and future issues of land use, economic development, transportation, housing and natural resources, as well as the Dundee Road and Milwaukee Road corridors. The plan seeks to envision what BG will look like in 2040 and beyond. The Comprehensive Plan project is progressing, and updates will be shared this spring as the visioning process gets underway. We will keep you posted on opportunities to get involved!

Branding process nears completionThe community branding process is uncovering Buffalo Grove's identity in effort to unify residents and businesses around what BG stands for and give those who view the community from afar an expectation of what makes BG different and unique.

Following an extensive research phase (Phase 1) spanning months earlier this year, the creative phase (Phase 2) was recently completed with brand consultants, North Star. The final phase (Phase 3) is underway to develop brand action ideas, all of which will be presented as a comprehensive package and final report at an upcoming Village Board meeting. We'll share an update as soon as these exciting deliverables are ready for viewing!
